More Than Coffee: How God Turned a Business Into a Ministry
At Coffee For Christ, every bag of coffee tells a story—not just of exceptional coffee, but of God's faithfulness, redemption, and purpose.
Recently, our founder, Pastor Ron Scadina, had the opportunity to share that story on Living by Faith with host James Fenimore.
Pastor Ron reflected on how his faith shapes his everyday life, from beginning each morning in prayer and worship to serving people experiencing homelessness throughout Santa Cruz. Whether it's taking a walk with his dog, Ted, or sharing a cup of coffee with someone in need, every interaction is an opportunity to show God's love.
One of the highlights of the conversation was the story behind Ted's Blend—our Guatemalan coffee sourced from a women's cooperative and roasted locally in Oakland. But as Pastor Ron shared, the coffee itself is only part of the story.
Coffee has become a vehicle for ministry.
After experiencing God's restoration in his own family, Pastor Ron felt called to dedicate his life to sharing the Gospel. Although he initially wanted to leave the coffee industry behind, God had a different plan. Instead of leaving the marketplace, He used it as a mission field.
Today, Coffee For Christ exists to combine high-quality specialty coffee with meaningful impact. Every purchase helps support outreach efforts, allowing us to provide free coffee, build relationships, and share hope with people experiencing homelessness throughout our community.
As the ministry continues to grow, so does the vision. Through partnerships, volunteers, internships, and community support, our goal is simple: to inspire others to live out their faith through practical acts of love and service.
